PeterSands_new_1080x1080The Friends of the Global Fund, Japan, congratulates Peter Sands on being named the new Executive Director of the Global Fund.

Mr. Sands  brings to the job exceptional management and financial experience, as well as a passion for global health. He is the former Group Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Bank. Since late 2016, Sands has chaired the International Working Group on Financing Pandemic Preparedness at the World Bank. Mr. Sands has also served on the board of the Global Business Coalition on AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and was Lead Non-Executive Director on the board of the United Kingdom’s Department of Health, among other posts.

The Friends of the Global Fund, Japan, and all of us at the Japan Center for International Exchange, look forward to working with Mr. Sands in pursuing our shared objectives of eradicating AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, and contributing to a healthier world.
