Japan’s First Lady Akie Abe Speaks on Her Efforts to Fight HIV/AIDS and Stigma

A short interview video with Japan’s First Lady Akie Abe has been posted on the Global Fund’s website. The interview was filmed during the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) in August, held in Nairobi, Kenya, which Mme. Abe attended with her husband.

Noting that suffering from HIV/AIDS is most acute among the most vulnerable people in society, Mme. Abe advocates for a world without discrimination and stigma against HIV/AIDS and for the end of AIDS.

Mme. Abe’s steadfast work in this field has inspired others, including Mark Dybul, executive director of the Global Fund. In conjunction with the release on Mme. Abe’s interview video on the Global Fund’s website, Mark Dybul has contributed a blog applauding the tireless efforts of Mme. Abe.
